Genetive Plural (gen.pl.)

Same as in gen.sg. but now for plural, and for numbers above 5.

Do note that there are a lot of special cases, which the book recommends to just memorize the words and not try to learn the specific rules.

Feminine nouns ending in -а and neuter nouns in -о just drop the ending

• книга (book) becomes книг (of books)

  слово (word) becomes слов (of words)

If they end in ь (soft sign), or in any of ж, ч, ш, щ, й, then you will append a -ей (dropping the soft sign in that specific case.)

• например рубль becomes рублей

• врач becomes врачей

All nouns ending in ие and ия, will do the typical change to -ий

Most masculine nouns that end in consonant will have -ов added to the word

• язык becomes языков
